Venice's Luna Hotel Baglioni is the oldest hotel in Venice and is in one of the best locations. With views of the San Marco Basin and the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore and a few yards from St Parks Square this hotel holds one of the finest and most enviable locations in Venice. The hotel underwent a complete refurbishment in 1992 and all the 118 bedrooms combine period design with modern facilities.

We had breakfast on the terrace over looking Venice's San Marco Basin one morning and it was tempting to splash out the 462 euros needed to stay in one of the classic double rooms, but we resisted. However, if you have the cash, we advise you to book immediately because the city is sinking afterall and who knows when you'll be back [ well that's what we kept telling ourselves ]?
