VENICE bars

Travelling around on water really does lift the spirits and a great way to build up that thirst. Surprisingly enough, Venice is a plethora of small bars as well as large bars in the main piazza's where you be able to sit back and take in the ambience of age-old cafés where many of the greatest writers have got drunk in.

Zen Café: [Via Torre Belfredo 110/112 30174 Mestre Ve 04195 3042] A bar devoted to your health is generally not on the menu, but this Oriental bar is something different. Blonde wood and clean minimalist lines match high backed wooden chairs and squat stools. The waiters are all dressed like Zen monks where great Italian dishes and sushi the order of the day. Sculptures, modern art and a Zen Café DJ a la Buddha Bar will make the most uptight person feel at one with themselves. [Tue - Sun 6.30pm - 1.30am]

Harrys Bar: [Calle Vallaresso San Marco] The most famous bar in Venice where if you haven’t tried their bellini you haven’t lived. Bags of charm and history swallow you up which is good because you need something to take your mind off the size of the bill.

Ai Canottieri: [Pontre Tre Archi 690 Cannaregio ] Lots of dancing and music at your disposal or if your not feeling too energetic you can relax and enjoy the spectacle. [Mon-Sat, 19.00 - 02.00]

Ciak 1: [San Polo 2807, Campiello San Tomà Vaporetto San Tomà 041 528 5150] A cool and hip crowd drink at Ciak and why shouldn’t they? Stylish décor and fine wines make this modern bar in San Toma a big hit with the “IN” crowd of Venice

Bottega Veneta: [Calle Vallaresso 1337] All styles of leather shoes and handbags.

l Caffe: [Dorsoduro 2963, Campo Santa Margherita 041 528 7998] Located in a quiet and very Venetian area, I Caffe is a lively spot on Campo Santa Margherit. Very cosy and great for a romantic aperitivo. There’s a DJ most nights including impromptu late night jazz sessions. Vaporetto Ca Rezzonico. [Mon-Sat 07.40 - 0200]

Vitae: [San Marco San Marco 4118, 041 520 5205] Designer bar near the Rialto Bride that’s busy with the cool crowd of Venice. The music is generally load techno and it gets really busy later in the evening. Calle Sant'Antonio Vaporetto.
