Berlin
has more bars you can shake a cocktail stick at and of course there's
some of the best beer on tap. Berlin has been jumping since the twenties
and it still continues to be a driving force in decadence and inovation.
There's something for everyone here and since re-unification, you can
find a great mixture of bars: from quieter watering holes in the East
to the full glitz and glam of the West.
Green Door: [Winterfeldstrasse 50 U1/15 Nolledorfplatz, Schöneberg Tel: 30 215 2515] The only bar along Winterfeldstrasse that has a green door. This is a cool and intimate cocktail bar with retro stylish decor, uplifting ambience and a huge cocktail list.
Pinguin Club: Wartburgstrasse 54 Schoneburg Tel: 30-781 30 05] This is one of Schoneberg's late night watering holes with 156 spirits behind the bar to ensure you stay all the way. With 50s American rock’n’roll memorabilia and a glittering mirror ball this bar pulls a young and vibrant crowd that dances all night.
CSA Bar: 96 Karl-Marx Alle, Friedrichshain Tel: 30 2904 4741] Located in Friedrichshain which used to be a run-down former East Berlin neighborhood, it's now hip and very happening. CSA is one of the reasons for this change. With an eastern bloc retro feel and laid-back atmosphere you'll be glued to the spot by the chilled-out house sounds and huge cocktail list on offer.
Haifisch: [Arndtstrasse 25 Kreuzberg] This a good laid back and slightly quirky cocktail bar in Kreuzberg. A great cocktail list accompanies ambient techno tunes. The back room has a sushi bar, the front is open for drinks ‘til 3am.
Reingold: [Novalisstrasse 11 Mitte Tel: 30 2838 7676] Open til 4am, this is one of the hippest bars in Mitte. An older thirty-something crowd lounge around on comfy leather sofas and relax to ambient and low key techno. The huge bar has an impressive cocktail list and oysters and also on the menu.
