For a two star hotel in Amsterdam this wasn’t cheap. A reservation at this hotel cost 116 euros for a double room for the night [ canal view is 120 euros ] but the Hotel Des Art is a fantastic place to stay. We were staying in a large wooden beamed ceiling room that had cable TV, large bathroom and plenty of storage space. It’s a family-run hotel that was built in a 17th Century Amsterdam house over looking one of the many canals. The staff were fantastic as we continuously asked them questions regarding laundry, museums, restaurants and neighborhood tips, telephone card tips...etc and they answered without hint of boredom.

It might be slightly more expensive than the rest of the two star hotels in our Amsterdam guide but it’s well worth it.
