The district of San Lorenzo is just a few steps away from Florence's central train station of Santa Maria Novella. It's also home to the church of San Lorenzo, the oldest church in Florence dating back to the 4th century and which was rebuilt in the beginning of the 15th century by Brunelleschi. It’s a great place to stay if your travelling on a tighter budget. There is a colourful and noisy open market here where you can find anything from leather jackets to those fabulous Italian shoes.
