With
a maze of steep, cobblestone streets lined with medieval buildings,
blessed with a scenic location on the side of a mountain, Cortona
is one of the oldest and most beautiful towns of Tuscany. The
countryside surrounding Cortona is filled with olive groves and
vineyards, and the town offers splendid views over the Val
di Chiana to the hills beyond.
Cortona is a wonderful place to visit and is roughly 50kms from Florence. Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino are all also within driving distance.
Cortona is a millenary cultural centre, holding a collection of works of art from 500 B.C. onwards. You'll find exhibitions going on all year round.
